Vegetarian Packages – Hoo

Our veggie wraps are made with delicious homemade vanilla cream cheese filled with lots of fresh vegetables. This is a healthy, simple recipe that can be made before and is perfect for packing lunches!
Fresh and simple vegetarian packaging
These packages are a great place to start when you are trying to make a conscious effort to get your kids to eat more vegetables (no gallons of ranch dressing)! My kids love these packages because we use mild and friendly veggies. I like to call these packages our “portal vegetables”, one of our entry into the world of delicious vegetables. Once the kids realize that the vegetables are not bad and have good experience with them, new vegetables may be more acceptable. So if you think your kids won’t eat anything green – start with these! You might be surprised.
These wraps are also very popular among adults thanks to the creamy and delicious vanilla cream cheese. I like to double or triple the recipe so I can have some on hand. It’s also delicious on cookies or baked bagels! It adds a lot of flavor to these packages and helps them stay together. These packages can be made in advance and are perfect for packing lunches. Healthy, simple, delicious and stuffed. Nothing better than this!

The ingredients you need to make a vegetarian packaging:
- Corn cakes– You want to use a sturdy 8-10-inch wrapping paper that is not easy to tear. We used spinach wraps.
- cheese– We used sliced Havarti.
- avocado
- cucumber
- tomato
- carrot
- lettuce
- Cream cheese– We used regular cream cheese, but Neufchatel worked well too.
- Parmesan cheese– You will need to use canned grated Parmesan cheese in a cream cheese sauce.
- onion– Attentive here is also great. You can also use dried onions in pinch.
- Garlic powder– I like using garlic powder here, but you can also use
- Cracked black pepper

How to make vegetarian packaging:
- Make vanilla cream cheese. In a small bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese, parmesan cheese, sliced onions, garlic powder and freshly cracked black pepper. Stir well to combine; set aside.
- Prepare vegetables. Cloze the carrots and then slice the tomatoes, cucumbers and avocados. Rinse the lettuce leaves.
- Assembly package. Spread each tortilla with a layer of cream cheese mixture. Top with lettuce, sliced Havarti cheese, tomatoes, avocado, carrots and cucumbers.
- scroll! Roll tightly, be careful not to tear the tortillas. Serve immediately, or wrap it in plastic wrap and store it in the refrigerator until ready to serve. enjoy!

Tips and suggestions
Cook
Sometimes I make these veggie wraps and eat them right away, but usually I wrap them in some plastic wrap and keep them in the refrigerator until we are ready to eat. Even if it’s only 30 minutes or more refrigeration will help with the shape of the wrap. They are perfect for packed lunches! This is also a good idea if you slice them and serve them as a windmill.
Vegetarian Packaging Filling Ideas
We love the combination of flavor and texture in this basic version, but there are many ways to play with this recipe! There are some other fillers you can try:
- Thin sliced pepper
- Sprout
- Thin sliced cabbage
- Thin sliced red onions
- Thin sliced radish
- Fresh broccoli
- Add beans: Black beans, chickpeas or white beans will be delicious.
- Replace vanilla cream cheese with hummus or avocado sauce. Or, make herbal mixture with regular Greek yogurt.
- Switch cheese! Try cheddar, Swiss, pepper jack or crushed feta.
