Insider Tennis was created by Calvis’ mission, which connects tennis fans with real people from tennis professionals.

Matthew Calvis now says to tennis: “Insider Tennis stems from the desire to fill gaps in tennis content to create something more personal, more human.” “I’ve been looking for a way to tell stories that allow you to connect with players on the surface – not only in the age of traditional media, but also in real, scriptless moments.

“Break Point touches on some intimacy, but I feel there is room to go deeper. The project is about capturing the behind-the-scenes layer that really brings athletes to life.”

Calvis, who has shot tennis from photo pits for years, said he has received great appreciation for his request to leave the court.

“One thing that really stands out is the strong intensity of the travel schedule,” said Matthew Calvis. “The moment players lose, they may fly to another country in a few hours.

“There is almost no time to reset – physically or mentally. Going through this close distance gives me real respect for these athletes. It’s not just a performance in court – it’s about constantly adapting to new environments, time zones and stress, week after week after week.”

If you are following Matthew Calvis’ photography now, you know he has a special skill that goes beyond forehand and backhand.

Calves said working closely with players is both a learning experience and a revelation.

“Frances Tiafoe really surprised me,” Calves said. “According to the press conference, I hope he will be more reserved or protected.

“I had the opportunity to shoot one of his private practice classes and what’s striking is how much real fun he still has in court. He brought this rompiness, but that moment was time to take it seriously.

Calvis takes you to the court to get the real, raw voice of the athletes at work, building your own game and confidence in front of our eyes.

The man who started his career as a professional photographer said his vision was to strip the game of face and give “the player a space to show who they are.”

“The vision of insiders’ tennis is to continue to pull the curtains backwards – giving players a space to show who they are, beyond the highlights of the game and the media voice,” Calves said. “We want to be the go-to platform for behind-the-scenes tennis content – fans are closer to the game and its people.

“Looking forward, our goal is to create more long-format videos for YouTube, expand our storytelling, and hope to work with some like-minded brand partners to help bring it all to life.”
