Homemade sweet leaf extract

Liquid sweet leaf extract is a relatively easy tin agent made at home. Plus, this is a cheaper alternative to the store-bought version! We love homemade stevia extract to sweeten the smoothies and cheesecakes, but it’s great in coffee or sweet tea too!

If you grow your own stevia, you can keep fresh leaves to create the most effective extract. This is my basic stevia recipe that has been suitable for children and pregnant women since alcohol cooking.

I radiate dry leaves from here in bulk, or you can keep your own leaves.

What is Stevia and how to use it

Pure stevia (stevia redaudiana) has a sweet taste and is a sugar-free method to sweeten food and beverages. The glycemic index ranks much lower than other sweeteners such as maple syrup or sugar. The plant itself may be a little bitter, so the company creates a highly refined white powder from it.

These store-bought powders are concentrated and refined versions of the stevia sweetened flavours. They are made by processing stevia using genetically modified organism microorganisms, resulting in a fine cabbage powder. Although stevia is so popular as a sugar alternative, not all brands are the same.

Many people contain additives and fillers such as maltodextrin, red vouchers, glucose and other artificial sweeteners. However, some brands of liquid stevia (such as sweet leaves) have very clean ingredients.

Stevia is more than just a sweetener. Researchers are investigating the complexity of stevia and its health benefits. Stevia has been shown to help reduce high blood pressure, promote healthier weight, have insulin support and antidiabetic effects, and is an antioxidant. It is also studied as an antibacterial agent and helps Lyme disease. A cup of candy can’t say the same thing!

Homemade sweet leaf extract recipe

Natural sweeteners are made from stevia leaves and can be used in sweet teas, coffees, and baked goods (such as cheesecakes).

  • Disinfect the glass jar and cover the lid in boiling water.

  • If using fresh stevia leaves, fill the jar 2/3. If using dried sweet leaf leaves fill the jar 1/2.

  • Pour the alcohol on the leaves to fill the jar and cover the lid tightly.

  • Place the extract where you will see it and let it sit for 36 hours, shake occasionally.

  • Use a cheese cube or a fine mesh filter lined with a coffee filter to filter the liquid into a small pot.

  • Turn on the heat low and then cook on low heat. Don't boil because it will ruin the taste! ! !

  • Cook on low heat for about 20-30 minutes, stirring constantly to ensure that it does not boil. As the alcohol evaporates, it thickens. When the desired thickness is reached, remove from the fire.

  • Store it in a small jar in the refrigerator for up to 3 months.

Droplet bottles are suitable for use with stevia extract.

Growing stelluria

Stevia performs well in warm climates and does not drop below 45 degrees. If you don’t live in a tropical environment, you can grow your own stevia plant in the summer. The sunny windowsill works too!

Use fresh and dried staffia

I often have fresh stevia in my garden, which is what I use when I make my homemade stevia extract. Dried stevia leaves work well, too, but you need to adjust the recipe. Since the dry leaves absorb more moisture from the alcohol, you just need to fill the jar 1/2. When using fresh stevia leaves, I fill about 2/3 of the jar. Making your own stevia extract is more like an art!

Places like Amazon sell stevia leaves (not processed white stuff). However, powdered stevia is hard to filter, so I prefer to use cut and sieved leaves to make stevia sweeteners.

Stevia extract is my favorite sweetener in our house. By making it ourselves, we avoid the bitter aftertaste. Try it in one of these recipes! It's also great in coffee, tea, chai latte or pumpkin latte.
