Homemade sweet chili sauce (with clean ingredients)

If you’re a sweet and spicy flavor fan, this homemade sweet chili sauce might be your new condiment! It is made with clean ingredients (no high fructose corn syrup here). Instead, you’ll find honey, garlic and red pepper flakes for some kicks. Sweet chili sauce is perfect for drizzling in your favorite dish, dipping or adding some sweet heat.

What is sweet chili sauce?

OK, it’s delicious alone! Unlike my Hot Hot Hot recipe, this recipe is designed to help blend the flavors together. You will find natural honey that provides sweetness, coconut amino and garlic umami, rice vinegar and lemon flavors to balance the sweetness. Of course, the red pepper flakes can be heated.

Since this is homemade, you can add more or less pepper to your favorite spicy taste. The recipe also uses non-GMO corn starch to thicken, but the arrows should work if you need a seed.

How to use sweet chili sauce

For foods like chicken wings, it’s a dip sauce, but it also comes with grilled vegetables at home. I also like to add it to the stir-fry to give them a little enthusiasm. Try it with roasted potatoes or pork. This is better than anything you find in the bottle in the store (Hello MSG!), plus, you feel good about the ingredients.

It’s easy to make and blend together in just a few minutes. And it can last up to three weeks in the refrigerator, so it’s easy to keep your meals. Plus, it doesn’t have any artificial additives, dyes or weird stuff, so you can have all the sweetness of the junk.

This is the way to make a clean, sweet chili sauce that can lift any meal!

This sweet and spicy sauce is perfect for dipping, drizzling or glaze!

  • In a medium pot, add all the ingredients. Whisk everything together to make sure the corn starch completely dissolves before heating.

  • Place the pan on medium heat and bring the sauce to a gentle boil. Once the boil begins, reduce the heat to medium low and let the sauce cook for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently. This will help the sauce thicken and blend the flavors together.

  • After 5 minutes, remove the sauce from the heat. Let it cool for 5 to 10 minutes to further thicken. You will notice that it becomes smooth and smooth as it cools.

  • After the sauce has cooled to room temperature, pour it into a clean jar or bottle. Sealed and store it in the refrigerator. This sauce can last up to 3 weeks.
