Meet Moyuka Uchijima, this is taking out Pegura in Madrid

Japanese Moyuka Uchijima This year, I've been making a big splash on tour. In Madrid on Sunday, she beat third place with her biggest splash to date Jessica Pegula 6-2, 6-2 reached the fourth round.
Uchijima won 21 titles with 21 winners to win and reached 16 rounds in the 1000 season for the first time.

She broke into the top 100 in 2024
At the start of the 2024 season, Uchijima ranked 171st. Now, she ranks 54th in the live rankings. Uchijima won 51 games in all levels in 2024 and won her first two major draws at Roland-Garros and the Roland-Garros and the Roland-Garros after qualifying.
Uchijima was named an ITF World Tennis Tour player in the May game, which was her highest contribution in Roland Garros' first Grand Slam match.

She loves clay – Madrid
“I didn’t grow up on the clay court, but after I won (the ITF event in Madrid last year), I started to like clay more and more. She quoted clay as her favorite surface on the WTA website.
She ranks 83rd in junior high school
She was not a famous figure in her junior year in 2018 and 2019. She played four majors in the U.S. Open in 2018.
She has been beaten up by four big names since February
Uchijima won Jelena Ostapenko in Dubai, Emma Raducanu in Wells, India, and Ons Jabeur and Pegula in Madrid. She also brought Coco Gauff to three sets from Indian Wells before falling into the third set. In the second round of this year's Australian Open, she also lost to Mirra Andreeva in the third set tiebreak.
