Paris – Mirra Andreeva – Why is she only 18 years old?
Look at the craftsmanship of the courts, the nuances, and the calm of the Russians. Look at the vitality, elegant slides, tall abilities on the big stage.
Watch her fourth round at Suzanne-Lenglen court Daria KasatkinaI asked myself this question.
Facing a player who won the only meeting of the two, and a player who played in the Paris quarterfinals for the first two times, Andreeva came to a purposeful consciousness and basic calm.
She ranked 38th in the world when she broke out in Paris last year and reached the semi-finals. She is ranked sixth this year, and there is good reason. Anyone who has watched her titles in Dubai and India’s Wells this spring knows that she has made a huge progress in the competition.
In the first showdown with Daria Kasatkina on Monday, it was impressive that the calm of the Russians.
She actually prayed for a pretty good opening to her own noble standards, but she was so calm and now that she was still able to get out of her distance from one of the most exquisite clay people in women’s tennis. Andreeva had limitations when serving 3-3 and had poor performances in that moment, but she summoned the strength and courage to save a pair of rest points.
2-Mirra Andreeva is the youngest women’s singles quarterfinals to be approached by Roland Garros since Martina Hingis (1997-1998). Queen.#RolandGarros | @RolandGarros @wta @wta_insider pic.twitter.com/duvhydxnbs

From there, she participated in the final three games of the opening ceremony. Andreeva’s psychological abilities have been greatly improved, and all the tools she has, make a promising player.
This match is actually dominated by Kasatkina in many ways. Earlier in the second set, Andreeva had a highlight, and she led 2-0.
After that, Kasatkina was in charge, winning five of the six games, even with a fixed point. This is really interesting from the perspective of someone who is analyzing Andreeva’s performance.
She was very hard to be sad. In similar cases, many players have lost the plot.
But Andreeva just keeps inserting. She didn’t execute the way she wanted, so she was forced to rely on defense enthusiasm and opportunism.
That’s what she did. Save the set point and force Kasatkina to hit the ball again and again. Eventually, this frustrated the Russians, and Andreeva found what she was missing for most of the matches as she scored 11 points in the last 13 points, a huge victory.
Since Hingis in 1998, she has become the youngest player in Paris in a row quarter-finals.
The reason she does this is her mental game.
