Sheldon becomes the youngest American in the quarterfinals in 21 years

He has won all four tiebreaks in his 13 sets so far, and he could easily finish third set with a great result on Monday.

In the fourth set, Sheldon waited until the last minute and beat the fourth break in three hours and five minutes without much drama.

“Before the last game, I was thinking ‘I don’t want to play a tiebreaker’, especially for someone who serves in their own way,” Shelton said.

Shelton joined Fritz in the quarterfinals, the second consecutive year that multiple American players have entered the Wimbledon men’s singles quarterfinals. Before 2024, the last time the American man in Wimbledon’s quarterfinals was 2000.
