Volcanic chicken recipe in 30 minutes

Once I started my natural healthy journey, I realized that I like foods that exude my taste (or sometimes a lot). Who wants regular chicken breasts and steamed broccoli when you can eat volcanic pheasants? This fried chicken recipe has an Asian-inspired talent and is perfect for busy nights. It pulls it together in less than 30 minutes, and even my kids can make it in the air fryer!
What is a volcanic pheasant?
Some sources say the original volcanic pheasant is Thai cuisine, which involves covering the whole chicken on whiskey and illuminating it on the fire. While we certainly won’t do that today, I can guarantee this crispy chicken recipe will taste much better!
The modern volcanic pheasant is a spicy chicken with a sweet and savory sauce. It is usually paired with rice or fried rice. It is usually deep-fried with hot oil (vegetable oil) and covered with sauces that include brown sugar, sriracha and even buffalo sauce.
I use homemade sweet chili sauce in this recipe, which includes ingredients like rice vinegar, garlic powder, red pepper flakes and honey. It’s like a spicy, sweet hot sauce with an Asian twist! Although the recipe requires chicken breasts, skin and skinless chicken thighs can work too.
The beauty of a volcanic pheasant
When it comes to fast, delicious meals, this volcanic pheasant is a game-changer. The crispy chicken with a sweet and spicy sauce is the perfect combination and it blends together in 30 minutes! Plus, its purpose is versatile, as you can serve as you wish, whether it’s rice, salad or potatoes.
I sometimes make this recipe in advance when preparing for meals. You can cook the chicken in advance and reheat it with the sauce when you are ready to eat and throw it away. The crispy chicken and the rich sauce were so delicious that my kids definitely asked to add it to our regular dinner.
Always good when delicious recipes are easy to be healthy too!

-
Whisk the eggs until combined well in shallow bowl. In another shallow bowl or plate, mix the flour, onion powder, salt and black pepper together.
-
Spread the chicken nuggets into the flour mixture and dip them into the egg mixture and then apply them to the flour mixture again. The double coating ensures that the chicken will get a crisp texture when cooked. Place each piece on a plate and repeat the rest of the chicken.
-
Preheat your fryer to 375°F. Place the chicken nuggets in a sky fry basket and place them in a single layer in a sky basket without crowding them! If the fryer is small, you may need to cook the chicken in batches. Cook for about 15 minutes, shake the basket, and even cook. Once done, the chicken should be golden brown and crispy.
-
While cooking the chicken, make the sauce by stirring sweet chili sauce, maple syrup (or honey), soy sauce, orange juice, orange zest and chopped garlic in a small bowl. Taste and adjust the sweetness or spice level to your preference.
-
Once the chicken is cooked, transfer it to a large bowl and pour the volcanic sauce over the crispy chicken. Throw everything together and make sure every piece is covered.
